Dr.Josh and Abby Mandrell have been married for eight years and are the proud parents of Caleb (5) and identical twin girls, Leah and Sarah (2).

Dr. Mandrell (Josh) grew up in southern Illinois in a small coal-mining and farming community. He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale before heading to Saint Louis University for medical school, and later completed his dermatology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Despite not knowing anyone in the South, after a series of God-given confirmations, he accepted a dermatology position at the Green Clinic and soon discovered one more reason he was meant to be here: Abby.

Abby, a Ruston native, proud Ruston High alum, and a Louisiana Tech graduate holds a degree in kinesiology. While completing her Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of St. Augustine in Austin, Texas. After earning her doctorate, Abby practiced full-time as a physical therapist at Green Clinic until the arrival of the twins. She now works per diem at therapy facilities throughout the community, balancing her calling to serve with being a hands-on mom.

Today, Dr. Mandrell is a partner at the Green Clinic Health System, where he has practiced dermatology since 2011. Dual-boarded in general dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery, he focuses primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. His leadership has helped the dermatology department grow steadily, and he finds deep fulfillment in caring for patients, mentoring his team, and teaching medical students as an associate professor at VCOM. His writing has been published in both medical and Christian literature, reflecting his passion for education and faith.

The Mandrells are deeply rooted in Trinity Methodist Church. Abby leads the prenatal ministry and volunteers in children’s and women’s ministries. Dr. Mandrell has served in administrative leadership, taught Sunday school, and is active in youth and family ministries. He also serves the broader community as a board member of the Louisiana Delta Ballet and United Way of Northeast Louisiana, and as a team leader for DART (Domestic Abuse Resistance Team). Abby gives back through her service as an advisory board member for Kappa Delta at Louisiana Tech and through Club Blue, supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Louisiana.

Outside of service, their home is full of energy and laughter. They love cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Chicago Cubs, Ruston High Bearcats, and everything Louisiana Tech. On any given afternoon at JC Love Field, you may see them corralling twin toddlers and a 5-year-old between innings—so don’t hesitate to say hello or grab a baby. They stay busy with their two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Austie and Ellie, who compete in various dog activities and keep the household lively.

Together, Josh and Abby bring faith, heart, humor, and a strong spirit of community to everything they do. Their love for Ruston runs deep, and they are honored to serve as this year’s Mardi Gras King and Queen.
